Biathlon

Biathlon is the combination of two disciplines: cross-country skiing and rifle marksmanship. The first skill requires strength and speed followed by the second skill commanding a calm presence and precision in target shooting.
Biathlon has Latin and Greek roots and means “dual competition”. It has been an official Olympic Sport since the Winter Olympics of 1960 in Squaw Valley, California.
John Gould, Minnesota biathlon coach, invites you to experience the exciting challenge of the sport. His program offers two additional components: One, the German language meshed with on-going training; Two, the opportunity to participate in an exchange program with German biathletes and their coaches in Altenberg, Germany, a major venue of biathlon.
